The Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA) which represents the interest of advertisers in all areas of commercial communication has elected Public Affairs and Communications Director of Coca-Cola Far East Limited (Coca-Cola Malaysia), Mohamed Kadri Mohamed Taib (picture), as its new President for the term 2018-2020.
Working with him is the new Vice President, the Head of Advertising & Promotions of Baba Products (M) Sdn Bhd, Claudian Navin Stanislaus, who was also elected at the industry body’s recent Annual General Meeting in Petaling Jaya.
One of the objectives of the new council is to strengthen engagements with government stakeholders so that policies can keep pace with the ever changing trends in advertising.
“We will focus on making our strategy of ‘Inspire, Ignite, Impart, and Influence’ more dynamic. One key area of focus will be to enhance the perception of MAA among government stakeholders and we will endeavour to keep them updated on new trends and industry innovations so that government policies can keep pace with the ever changing trends in advertising so that they are relevant to the current landscape and there are no technical obstacles that prevent us from moving forward,” said Kadri.
Active in the marketing communication industry for more than 30 years, Kadri is the current Vice Chairman of the Advertising Standards Advisory (ASA) and has been actively representing ASA and MAA on various advertising committees of regulators such as the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism.
“I would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to my predecessor, Margaret Au Yong for her efforts in evolving the industry, upholding its values and driving it forward. We will continue to be guided by the initiatives, ideas and industry stance under her leadership” said Kadri.
The newly elected Council Members are from Bata Primavera Sdn Bhd, CIMB Bank Berhad, Heineken Malaysia Berhad, Nestle Products Sdn Bhd, Nippon Paint (M) Sdn Bhd, Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd, Mondelez Malaysia Sales Sdn Bhd, Tune Group Sdn Bhd and Unilever (M) Sdn Bhd.
