Milieu Insight expands commercial team to Malaysia on the back of 3x growth in 2020

Aaron Low is the latest addition to the Milieu team, and he joins Milieu to head up the firm’s commercial operations in Malaysia.

Low (pictured) joins Milieu from Zanroo, and he brings more than 8 years of SaaS,  Martech sales and consulting to the team. In his current role, Low will be responsible for building up the sales pipeline and commercial operations for Malaysia, and forging strategic partnerships. He will report to the company’s Regional Head of Growth, Marcus Lim, who is based in Singapore.

On his reasons for joining Milieu, Aaron said, “After meeting Milieu for the first time, I got really excited about the product, company vision and the team. A lot of businesses fail to make the right decisions simply because market research is too complex, too slow, or too expensive. Milieu’s approach really resonates with me in terms of how it can be used to help companies of all shapes and sizes make better decisions.”

Low joins Milieu on the back of a year of explosive growth for the company. In 2020, Milieu grew revenues by 300% over 2019, entered 4 new markets – including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines, as well as doubled its headcount. Milieu now has a community of more than 2 million app users across its 6 countries, which brands and agencies can tap into for fast turnaround consumer studies. The firm’s Malaysia panel has grown to more than 80,000 users since it launched just 9 months ago.

On the firm’s traction in 2020 and the hiring of Low, Milieu’s Regional Head of Growth, Marcus Lim, said, “2020 was a milestone year for us, and we’re proud of what we accomplished with a small team and in the face of the global pandemic. We saw incredibly strong demand for our product in the market as many businesses, both big and small, are now under immense pressure to make data-driven decisions in the face of tight budgets. We’re excited to welcome Aaron to the team and to start building up a base of clients in Malaysia.

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.

We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTTDOOHinfluencer marketing, retail, etc.

Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.

Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.

Collaboration is keypartnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.

Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
