Hong Leong’s launches motivational father daughter video this Deepavali

Hong Leong’s Deepavali message centers on love and encouragement

Hong Leong Bank Berhad (HLB) launched a Deepavali campaign entitled “Seeding Dreams” with a thought provoking message on using kindness and compassion to ensure another’s success.

Delivered via a two-minute video on YouTube, ‘Appa’s Cheeky Dancer’ showcases a father and his young daughter dancing the classical Indian bharatanatyam.

The young girl deviates from traditional steps, incorporating modern dance moves to her father’s disdain.

Only after seeing how his disapproval demotivates his daughter does he realise how much his support and encouragement means to her, as he takes his own first steps in empowering her towards her dreams with compassion and understanding.

The video is an extension of the ‘Menyemai Impian’ (Seeding Dreams) theme adopted for the Bank’s Hari Raya campaign this year, the “Seeding Dreams” Deepavali campaign also promotes the cultivation of a savings habit especially among the younger generations, leveraging on HLB’s savings products.

“Just like how a small act of encouragement can seed a bigger dream, starting a good savings habit early for our young ones is the first step in seeding their dreams for a better future.

“Our campaign video highlights how one small gesture can inspire and empower others in living their dreams so we hope this Deepavali, parents can also start the small step in encouraging their children to save for their future too,” said Domenic Fuda, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HLB.

HLB is offering a special promotion until the end of the year where parents can open a 3-in-1 Junior Savings Account for their children from as low as RM1.

Account holders will receive a reloadable prepaid Junior Debit Card and money saved would have the potential to earn high rates for the first RM50,000, as well as access to a Junior Fixed Deposit account with high returns with a minimum placement of RM1,000.

Early bird customers will be able to take home exclusive Fluffy Bird merchandise which include a Fluffy Bird coin box, backpack, pillow blanket, and trolley bag.

Zalman Zainal, Chief Marketing and Communication Officer of HLB said the Bank is pleased that the campaign reel has resonated well with customers and generated positive buzz on social media.

“The challenge for any festive campaign is to find a balance between delivering a festive greeting and weaving in brand and product propositions and at the same time, presenting it in a memorable and tasteful manner.

“For the Deepavali campaign video, we relied on the dramatic expression and staging of the classical Indian bharatanatyam in delivering a simple message and we are pleased that it has managed to touch many viewers from all walks of life.”
