Datuk Seri Mohd Ashraf Abdullah resigns from Media Prima

Datuk Manja Ismail to assume duties as MPTN group managing editor, news and current affairs
Media Prima Berhad has announced that Datuk Seri Mohd Ashraf Abdullah (pic) will be ending his tenure as Group Managing Editor of News and Current Affairs, Media Prima Television Networks.

This resignation is effective 20 May 2018. Datuk Seri Ashraf had earlier informed the Board and Management of Media Prima of his intention to step down from his current post. He first joined Media Prima as Group Editor of TV3 in June 2009.

With immediate effect, Datuk Manja Ismail, Deputy Group Managing Editor, News and Current Affairs, MPTN will assume the duties of the Group Managing Editor, News and Current Affairs, MPTN.

Media Prima’s TV3 was also ordered to pay a sum of RM 1.1 million in damages to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim by the Malaysian High Court after finding that the television station had defamed him in a news report linking him as one of the masterminds in the Lahad Datu intrusion in Sabah, five years ago.

Malaysian High Court also found that there was malice on TV3’s part for broadcasting the news, which was purely based on a report by Utusan Melayu Berhad.

Anwar Ibrahim also filed a suit on 8 March 2013 against Media Prima Television and Radio Networks, News and Current Affairs’ group managing editor Datuk Shaharudin Abd Latif, Buletin Utama news editor Ing Boon Seng and Utusan Group editor-in-chief Datuk Abdul Aziz Ishak.
