The annual APPIES Malaysia Marketing Awards & Festival that honors the best marketing campaigns with outstanding success stories, as well as the people behind them, is officially accepting submissions for 2020
What makes the APPIES a sought-after award is the extensive selection process that takes place, by bringing together 30 individuals from various industries, who have made their mark in the industry, as judges. The validation and recognition behind each gold, silver and bronze award is undisputed.
If you’ve never attended an APPIES before, it is known as the “TED of Marketing”. Eligible campaigns are presented in an interactive format comprising a four-minute creative reel summary, followed by a six-minute oral presentation highlighting significant aspects of the campaign.
The presenter then answers 2-3 questions from the judges and audience in a 5-minute Q&A session. The APPIES Marketing Conference & Awards dinner is held on the same day.
Each year, APPIES Malaysia attracts marketers around the nation to submit their best work from the past 12 months. Entrants can choose from 10 campaign categories that fit their specific marketing campaign:
1. Best in Food & Beverage
2. Best in Consumer & Business Services
3. Best in Non-Food FMCG
4. Best in Consumer Durables
5. Best in Festive & Entertainment
6. Best in Customer Experience
7. Best in Digital & Social
8. Best in E-Commerce
9. Best in AdTech/MarTech
10. Best in Marketing Innovation

Each year, we also include a set of special categories, which requires no submissions. For APPIES 2020, the special categories include Rising Star Presenter of the Year (below 30), Trailblazing Presenter of the Year (above 30), Media Agency of the Year, Advertising Agency of the Year, Digital Agency of the Year, Production Company of the Year and Marketer of the Year.
It’s hard to have missed Marrybrown’s ad last year for it’s new menu item – the Korean Hot Chicks Sensation. Combining a tongue-in-cheek, catchy name along with trending Koreon-pop, the fast-food joint made a significant impact in the marketing and advertising scene. The campaign won Gold in the Food & Beverage category at APPIES 2019.
This is just one example of a successful marketing campaign that received the recognition it deserved at the previous APPIES.
Is your team sitting on a unique brand story? If the answer is ‘yes’ or even ‘i think so’, then we urge you to submit your story to be considered for an APPIES Award, potentially defining the start of the decade for your brand.
