‘Annual Rush Rush’ is the first film of the year to kick off Perodua’s 2020 campaign theme #WeGoBeyond. As a business and as a brand, Perodua does so much more for the rakyat beyond just manufacturing cars as it strives to also provide opportunities, build connections, and create a lasting change.
This year’s festive film pays tribute to the unsung heroes who go the extra mile to make our celebrations more meaningful. With Chinese New Year around the corner, many will be looking forward to meeting up with their extended family for the traditional reunion dinner.
But as more families find it easier to eat out on this special occasion rather than at home, we are treated to an interesting perspective of the people who work hard to prepare and serve these elaborate meals, especially at our neighbourhood family restaurants.
The story is told from the point of view of an elderly lady, Auntie Sim, who leads us to believe she is a stickler for tradition and that her neighbours, the Wong family, are not taking the time to truly enjoy the togetherness, camaraderie and significance of this auspicious annual dinner.
However, we later discover the reason for the Wongs’ mad rush to have their reunion dinner at a strange time, so early in the afternoon. The film ends on a sweet note, reminding us all to thank the people who go out of their way to keep traditions going just to bring joy to others.
The web film which is a collaboration between Spin Communications and Reservoir Production is currently playing on all of Perodua’s social media pages.

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.
We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTT, DOOH, influencer marketing, retail, etc.
Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.
Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.
Collaboration is key: partnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.
Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
