Roy Tan leaves The Star

At a time when corporate movements are becoming the norm, Roy Tan has resigned from the Star Media Group Berhad as Group COO. He has been wth the Group for five and half years and assumed his position as Group COO in May last year.

Roy (picture) was driving the Group’s transformation programme since December 2017 which focuses on three key objectives: putting consumers first, putting data at the heart of the business, and making the business economically sustainable.

He had said the programmatic team was responsible for about 12% of the Group’s total digital revenue.

“That is actually a phenomenal achievement for us, and we know this figure will grow significantly very quickly.”
Before that, he served for almost two years as CEO at Star Media Radio Group.

And prior to the Star, Roy was MD of digital marketing agency Isobar… after almost 12 years in advertising and media specialist agencies.

A new CEO for Star Media Group Berhad will be in place by mid April, after which Roy is planning to head down under to Australia to explore opportunities there.

On January 1 this year, Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai stepped down as CEO & MD of the Star Media Group after spending more than 30 years at the company. Chun Wai remains a Group Advisor to the company.
