Nestlé Establishes World’s Largest MILO Factory in Negeri Sembilan

Nestlé Malaysia recently launched its expanded Chembong Factory in Negeri Sembilan, to establish the facility as the world’s largest MILO Manufacturing site and global Centre of Excellence.

This expansion upgrades the manufacturing facility with state-of-the-art production lines to optimise capacity and efficiency to deliver higher productivity and competitiveness. The 30% capacity increase will cater to growing domestic demand and for export to over 20 countries.

Since the start of operations in 1993, the MILO Chembong Factory has been a key contributor to the local economy, offering work opportunities to its surrounding local communities. The Chembong factory complex currently employs Nestlé’s largest factory workforce among its six factories in Malaysia.

The launch was officiated by YTM Dato’ Lela Maharaja Dato’ Haji Muhamad Sharip bin Haji Othman, Undang Luak Rembau and YAB Dato’ Seri Haji Aminuddin bin Harun, Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan.

Also in attendance were Mr Chris Johnson, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Zone Asia, Oceania and sub-Saharan Africa, Nestlé S.A. and Mr Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad.

YAB Dato’ Seri Haji Aminuddin bin Harun, Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan commented, “Investments from high-impact industries, such as Nestlé Malaysia are integral to our vision of driving robust economic growth in Malaysia and Negeri Sembilan, which is outlined in our Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 plan.

“Not only is this testament to our economic potential in Negeri Sembilan, but also the investment-friendly policies implemented by the State. Nestlé Malaysia’s investment to upgrade and expand the MILO factory in Chembong will continue to create jobs for the youth and spur more opportunities for local businesses.”

Mr Juan Aranols said, “We strongly believe in the economic opportunities in Malaysia. That is why we have been steadily investing into growing our business for over 100 years in the country.

“Our investment of RM90 million to establish our Chembong Factory in Negeri Sembilan as the world’s largest MILO Manufacturing site and global Centre of Excellence is in line with our commitment to continue enhancing our manufacturing operations and produce nutritious and high-quality made-in-Malaysia Halal products for all Malaysians.”

“The investment into the existing Chembong factory has allowed our MILO Manufacturing Facility to optimise our operations and productivity improvements through automation and digitalisation, as well as leverage economies of scale,” added Mr Aranols.

“Malaysia is a key market for Nestlé globally and a key manufacturing hub in our Asian region. This expansion is testament to our drive to ensure strong, profitable and sustainable growth, in tandem with our commitment to continue investing in Malaysia as a key manufacturing hub for the Nestlé Group,” said Mr Chris Johnson.

MILO product variants produced in the Chembong Factory include MILO powder, MILO 3 in 1 and MILO Kosong.
