Will ‘Dowan’ and ‘Cafe Nasty’ give Wonda a run for money?

Thanks to their extensive advertising it’s hard to think of Kopi Tarik in a can without having Wonda Coffee in mind.

However it looks like two new Kopi Tarik brands, ‘Dowan’ and ‘Cafe Nasty’, are making waves online with quirky videos, hashtags #macamkopitapicopy #kopicat and a teaser product website www.dowancoffee.com

Cafe Nasty

While Dowan’s key message seems to be that it’s ok to be number two, Café Nasty proudly shares that its product is a copy of another famous brand (the logo looks suspiciously like….Wonda!)

Curiosity towards the new products have driven key local online portals including OhBulan and Mini Me Insights to cover the story. Café Nasty’s video even inspired popular local online influencer, Jihan Muse to create a parody video which has been viewed over 17,000 times.

So is this all a promotion by Wonda Coffee to remind people that they are number one?

We can only speculate.

Wonda Coffee did respond to both campaigns last Friday on their official page with the following message…
