This CNY film explores the source of happiness for survivors of critical illness

For Chinese New Year (CNY) this year, Prudential is posing an important question: ‘what is the source of our happiness?’.

Together with Naga DDB Tribal, the insurance company has released a short film titled “The Reunion”, which explores a unique perspective on happiness inspired by interviews with survivors of Critical Illness.

“We discovered that a second chance at life offered survivors of Critical Illness clarity on what matters most – this allowed them to reunite with who they once were or even the person they were meant to be,” said Creative Group Heads of Naga DDB Tribal, Naqib Shamsuri and Gui Jiann Rong.  “This theme of reunion with one’s self echoed the culture of CNY reunions, hence was used as inspiration for our film.”

Driven by music composed by singer-songwriter, Colbie Ong, the film revolves around a young professional photographer who suffers a stroke and is forced to take time off work and rest. What follows is a realistic look at someone who goes through a dark time in life and tries to find the light to hold onto.

Amidst the current challenging times, the film gives Malaysians a moment to reflect and reconnect with their true, authentic self.

“Chinese New Year is a celebration of renewal and setting things straight and it is a time we reconnect with our relatives after a period of separation,” said Chief Customer & Marketing Officer of Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad, Eric Wong. “But what if the one person you’re in most need of reconnecting and reuniting to is yourself?”

“The Reunion” is a tear-jerking, refreshing take on CNY and you can watch the full film here:
