Will we finally see a world where ‘Likes’ outweighs values?

A new video going viral is giving netizens a glimpse into this new reality. The 2-minutes film titled ‘Berapa LIKE Kau Ada? shows a conversation in Malay between a mother and father speaking to their daughter on her latest love interest.

The conversation takes an amusing turn when the parents reject their daughter’s choice due to his poor social media presence. I have to admit curiosity got the better of me and halfway through the film I skipped to the end to find out which brand was behind the video.

To my surprise, the film was a promotional video for Publicis One. Earlier this year the agency announced its global move to operate all its brands including Leo Burnett, Arc, Publicis, Saatchi & Saatchi Arachnid and more under one umbrella group. In Malaysia Publicis One is headed by Tan Kien Eng.

The video, posted on Leo Burnett Malaysia’s Facebook page yesterday night has already received 160,163 views and over 3,000 shares.

MARKETING Magazine is not responsible for the content of external sites.

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.

We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTTDOOHinfluencer marketing, retail, etc.

Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.

Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.

Collaboration is keypartnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.

Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
