Taylor’s ranks as best private University in Malaysia

The QS World University Rankings for the 2021 series was released today and Taylor’s University has fared outstandingly as the university climbed 135 spots, to rank 379 globally. This new ranking places Taylor’s university amongst the top flight of universities in the world and subsequently making it as the top Malaysian private university, according to the QS world rankings.

Earlier this year, the university retained its Top 20 world ranking for the fiercely contested Hospitality and Leisure Management subject in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020, making it the only university in Malaysia to be in the Top 20 ranking. The university is also currently ranked 109th in the QS Asia University Rankings 2020.

Taylor’s University Vice Chancellor and President Professor Michael Driscoll takes the latest global achievements as a vote of confidence in the teaching and learning strategy that Taylor’s University is pursuing.

“The latest QS World University Rankings confirms Taylor’s University as the best private university in Malaysia and it also recognises the world-class education we provide for our students,” said Taylor’s University Vice Chancellor and President Professor Michael Driscoll. “My congratulations go to all the staff, students and partners of Taylor’s for their continued commitment to excellence.”

Michael also added that the high ranking achieved by Taylor’s follows the recent QS 5 Stars rating (the highest level) for the quality of the university’s online learning during the government enforced campus closure. The QS 5 star for Online Learning is a new single category evaluation and Taylor’s University is among the few Asian universities to be awarded so far.

“Our world-class online learning is enabling our students to complete their studies without interruption and graduate on time,” he said.

The Taylor’s award-winning Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is an ecosystem of microsites for each subject, with e-assessment, e-tutoring, e-submission and e-forum features. The university also leverages ReWIND, a lecture capture system that has over 40,000 recorded lectures, and Lightboard Video Technology for DIY lecture recordings that enables the capturing of text or sketches in real time.
