MPPM announces their latest member, Sinar Harian
The Malaysian Premium Publishers Marketplace (MPPM) has announced that Sinar Harian has become its newest member to join the publisher cooperative that aims to enhance brand safety, establish regulations to protect the interest of the advertisers, provide better transparency and improve viewability.
The Sinar Harian news portal is one of the top news portals in Malaysia, with over 45 million page views monthly and 7 million unique visitors a month.
“We at Sinar Harian are delighted to be joining MPPM. News publishers in the country are all facing similar challenges online. MPPM is a strong and vocal advocate for the industry and is committed to embrace the digital standards. Hence, we are very pleased to join and support their efforts to promote greater transparency of online ad trading in Malaysia.” – Kumpulan Media Karangkraf deputy CEO Syamil Fahim says in a statement.
Sinar Harian first hit the newsstands on 31 March 2006 in the East Coast states of Kelantan and Terengganu before expanding its distribution to the state of Selangor and the federal territory of Kuala Lumpur in the West Coast in September 2007. Over the years, the company has embraced multiple media platforms. Today, it is an absolute digital leader, creating a series of digital-first products. With the launch of Sinar Life, a mobile APP for smartphones and tablets, accessing Sinar Harian content is made easier and faster for its readers.
“Sinar Harian membership in MPPM is an incredibly important statement about the future of the news business. We are fighting hard for the future of the business, and the support of forward-thinking partners like Sinar Harian is invaluable.”, said MPPM vice-chairman Keu Tien Siong.
“Sinar Harian’s decision to join MPPM and to strengthen our efforts on ad transparency and ad-fraud highlights the importance of what we are trying to achieve for the future of Malaysian media,” added Tien Siong.
With Sinar Harian on board, MPPM has nine leading publishers in its co-op, including Star Media Group, Media Chinese International Ltd group, Utusan Melayu group and The Edge Media group, which reaches out to 60% of Malaysia’s digital population.
Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) Malaysia group exclusive pilot has concluded with flying colours and viewability reported above industry benchmark.
“We are moving on the right track and are excited on the upcoming announcement of our offerings in the market,” says MPPM chairman Heather Wee.
