Ringgitplus welcomes Jo Yau as chief marketing officer

Malaysian fintech startup Jirnexu, which runs Malaysia’s leading financial comparison platform RinggitPlus, has named Jo Yau as the company’s new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). She is tasked with overseeing the company’s efforts to be a household name among Malaysians looking for financial products.

An industry heavyweight, Jo brings a wealth of experience into RinggitPlus. With over 20 years of experience in advertising, media, and sales, Jo was most recently the General Manager at Grey Malaysia, turning the office into one of Grey’s strongest markets in APAC in her six years there.

She has also worked for other leading network agencies, including Mindshare and Zenithmedia (now known as Invictus Blue). In her new role, Jo will lead a team of 20 individuals across key disciplines in Marketing, Brand Communications, Digital Performance, and Content Marketing.

She will report to RinggitPlus co-founder and CEO, Hann Liew.
“Jo’s breadth of marketing experience in banking, finance, and tech meant that she was a natural fit for the role,” said Hann.

“We’re thrilled to have found the right person who will
not only drive our key initiatives for 2020, but one who is also well regarded in building exceptionally strong work cultures across different teams,” he added.

“What RinggitPlus has done since 2012 has been outstanding not only from a business perspective, but they have created a platform that truly helps Malaysians. I believe that all Malaysians should be equipped with the knowledge to make smart financial decisions, and my vision is to further cement RinggitPlus’ position as the go-to destination for everyone to learn, search, compare, and get the best-suited financial products,” Jo said.

She added, “Thanks to our partnerships with key global industry leaders such as Experian PLC, we have world-class tools to make it happen.” RinggitPlus is Malaysia’s largest financial comparison website and has served over a million Malaysians since its inception. This is mainly driven by a shared desire between its co-founders to empower Malaysians with a platform that allows them to research, compare, and apply for financial products.

The company’s secret sauce is bridging the gap between financial institutions and customers by digitalising the application process with an end-to- end solution that not only accelerates the application process, but also makes it easier for the consumers to apply for financial products such as credit cards, personal loans, and home loans.

Jirnexu has also been an approved participant in the Bank Negara Malaysia Financial Technology Regulatory Sandbox since 2017, enabling Malaysians to compare and purchase general and term-life insurance products from multiple insurers online on RinggitPlus.com.

More recently, RinggitPlus also provides consumers the ability to schedule appointments with insurance agents for other types of insurance products such as whole-life and medical insurance in an online-to-offline (O2O) model.
