Michael Beecroft has been appointed as the CEO for North East Asia at GroupM. He was most recently chief investment officer at Mindshare Asia-Pacific. He had 12 years of experience working for GroupM agency MEC (now Wavemaker). He moved to the region in 2013 as head of trading.
He is expected to relocate from Hong Kong to Tokyo and split his time between Tokyo and Seoul. Beecroft’s appointment comes in the wake of the exit of GroupM Korea CEO Jason Chung.
Commenting on Beecroft’s appointment, GroupM CEO Asia-Pacific and chairman China Mark Patterson said: “Michael is a top class leader with broad experience across disciplines, regions and agencies and importantly has worked very well in his roles to date with the teams in both Korea and Japan.
“That ability to add real value, be culturally empathetic and understand the unique make up of these two neighbouring but very different and important markets makes him a great fit for the role I believe. There is growth opportunity for our clients and our businesses in both markets by continuing to differentiate our approach and offer there.”
