Malaysian(Marketingmagazine.com.my) – The Malaysian e-commerce market is projected to reach almost RM4 billion this year.

According to the Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, “The market is also expected to grow by over 18 per cent per annum over the next five years,” he said when launching the CJ WOW SHOP here Thursday.

He added, more than 50 per cent of the online and remote shopping users were under 35 years old.

“A recent study by Google Malaysia showed that there are approximately seven million Malaysians purchasing products online monthly. Trend Micro reported that eight out of 10 local online users now prefer to shop online,” he said.

The CJ WOW SHOP is a joint-venture between Media Prima Bhd and South Korean company, CJ O Shopping Co Ltd, to provide home shopping network on TV3, NTV7, 8TV, TV9 channels, “Tonton” online and mobile platforms starting April 1.
