KFC creates inclusive ad for Malaysia Day

Malaysia Day is a time to celebrate our nation’s multicultural background – a background made up of 13 states and countless languages and dialects. And that’s exactly what KFC did with their KFC Bucket Bersama campaign, using dialects from different Malaysian states for their commercial.

“For us, this Merdeka/Malaysia Day period has been about truly celebrating Malaysian heritage, and KFC Bucket Bersama was the perfect avenue to showcase the beautiful dialects of this diverse nation.” says Angelina Villanueva, Chief Marketing Officer of KFC Malaysia.

“KFC has always been about bringing people together over the love of food. This Malaysia Day, we wanted to take it up a notch by using each state’s unique dialect in the digital roll out of our campaign,” says Jeremy Yeoh and Suryadipura Salleh, Creative Directors at Naga DDB.

According to the team, “residents of each state will be served ads in their native dialect through precise geo-targeting. So if you’re living in Sabah, you will be served a Sabahan version of the ad. Sarawakians, Kelantanese, Penangites and the rest of Malaysia will also get similar treats in
their personal dialects”

The KFC Bucket Bersama ad is a declaration to all Malaysians that at KFC, everyone is welcome to sit at the table no matter their colour or creed. A playlist of all dialects have been created which can be viewed at

KFC Bucket Bersama is available at all KFC outlets for a limited time only.
