F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd made it to the Malaysia Book of Records today for its achievement of organising the Most Number of Participants In A Virtual ‘Teh Tarik’ Mamak session. The session which was hosted on April 9, 2020 on Zoom, had 667 participants. According to Malaysia Book of Records representative, the listing and recognition of the achievement ranks F&N as a national record-holder and places the brand amongst the ‘Best of the nation’.
F&N Malaysia went straight to Malaysian’s biggest pain point during the current government issues Movement Control Order (MCO) – the inability to hang out at a Mamak (open-air food establishment); an activity that is almost synonymous with Malaysian culture.
The out-of-the-box and fitting campaign, “Mamak Virtual Terbesar Teh Tarik Ori F&N” initially targeted 500 participants.
“In the current situation, 100% of the marketing efforts are being moved towards digital,” said Senior Brand Manager of F&N Malaysia, Adelene Tay. “We are maximising all digital platforms ranging from facebook, Instagram, YouTube to Zoom and also tapping into e-commerce platforms such as F&N Life, our F&N online marketplace.”
The launch of the virtual campaign featured influencers Cikidot, Norreen Iman, Zetty Nabila and Zack Merican who were chosen based on their outspoken and spontaneous personalities, coupled with a great sense of humour to engage and entertain consumers when they log in to Zoom.
Zetty and Zack hosted the launch while a series of engagement activities and simple impromptu contests that utilise the native screen and chat functions of Zoom have been designed throughout the campaign period to encourage consumer participation. The organisers ensured the virtual mamak stall was just as exciting as the real one, involving plenty of playful banter.
According to Adelene, the response was positive, and the participants were actively engaging during the session.
F&N’s latest teh tarik drink can be purchase on F&NLife, Lazada and Shopee. Once the MCO is lifted, it will be available in petrol stations, convenience stores, provision stores and other selected supermarkets. According to F&N, while orders from FNLife will be delivered within Peninsular Malaysia, Lazada and Shopee are only offering delivery within Klang Valley during the MCO and will expand their delivery coverage to other locations within Peninsular Malaysia, F&N after.
