Bawa Balik Yang Itu, the latest Raya festive video brought to you by Edelman Malaysia and Farm Fresh, centres around the story of Amir, a bachelor on a quest to find something his mother needs to mark their Raya celebration.
But what exactly is ‘yang Itu‘? This heartwarming tale, full of humour and unexpected twists, emphasises the significance of family connections and the cherished moments spent with loved ones.
What makes Bawa Balik Yang Itu unique is the inclusion of the traditional Marhaban group, turning it into a musical performance that makes it an engaging affair. Marhaban is a Nusantara tradition where a group of women (usually elderly) sing praises at events like weddings, ‘cukur jambul’ (welcoming newborns), or small Islamic gatherings.
With their vibrant outfits and harmonious voices, the Marhaban group adds a refreshing and entertaining touch, making this video stand out from typical Raya commercials.
The featured group, Kumpulan Artis Wanita Marhaban Malaysia (AWM), graced the video with their striking blue-pink colour coordination and melodious harmony, featuring Dato’ Yusni Hamid, Dato’ Royce Sa’ayan, Rozita, Rohaizad, and Salima Mahmood.
Those who spent their youth in the 70s, 80s, and 90s may be familiar with these names – the pop stars of their time. Other big veteran names in this video include Norlia Ghani, Wan Julia (Mak Wan Latah), Zalifah Ibrahim, and Zie Aziz.
Running for 6 minutes and 22 seconds, Bawa Balik Yang Itu is directed by rising director Adam Zainal, a notable figure in the local filmmaking scene. Having been involved in directing since 2016, some of his previous works include Kantoi, Ngelamun, and Pekak, as well as few other festive commercials: Misi Mandi Raya, Pilihan Raya Terhangat, and Tiada Masalah, Cari Masala.
Adam is joined by a local production house, The Weekend Boys and Wavefarer Audio, an audio production house throughout the filming period of the Farm Fresh’s Raya commercial.
En Azmi Zainal, Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Farm Fresh Berhad, stated, “At Farm Fresh, we don’t just produce high-quality milk; we also aim to convey the values of honesty, love, and family relationships. Raya is a time to strengthen bonds and share meaningful moments.

(Mooks) Mundzir Abdul Latif, Creative Technologist at Edelman Malaysia further commented, “With ‘Bawa Balik Yang Itu’, we wanted to blend the old with the new—Marhaban harmonies, 90s karaoke nostalgia, and a fresh, modern storytelling lens.
It’s a love letter to Malaysian culture seen through the eyes of a young, bold creative team and an up-and-coming Gen Z director interpreting tradition their way. Farm Fresh is a brand grounded in honesty and realness, already loved and trusted by the rakyat. This film is proof that when you mix cultural depth with creative bravery, magic happens.”
