(Marketingmagazine.com.my) – IPG Mediabrands announced today that Bala Pomaleh has been named CEO, IPG Mediabrands Malaysia. In this role, Pomaleh will lead the continued growth and expansion of IPG Mediabrands in Malaysia.
A 25-year-veteran of the industry, Pomaleh joins IPG Mediabrands from CARAT where he was CEO, Malaysia.
Under his leadership, CARAT won the Malaysian Grand Slam of 2015 Agency of the Year titles, and was honored at the Malaysian Media Awards, A+M MARKies and Campaign’s Malaysian and Southeast Asia Media Awards.
Prior to this role, he was CEO of sister company Posterscope Malaysia.
At Posterscope, he led the company to become the top out-of-home specialist in the country.
“Bala is a dynamic, proven leader that’s constantly looking to redefine media,” said Henry Tajer, IPG Mediabrands Global CEO. “We look to him to further evolve our offering in the Malaysian market, expanding our best-in-class capabilities, scale and scope, as well as investing in top talent to fuel growth in this critical market.”
Pomaleh’s appointment is the latest in a number of strategic management assignments under Tajer, who took the reigns as IPG Mediabrands Global CEO in May of 2015.
Earlier this year, Tom Wan, another prominent figure in the region, joined IPG Mediabrands as CEO of IPG Mediabrands China. Wan previously served as Managing Director, Global Brand Management for Ogilvy & Mather. In recent months, IPG Mediabrands has expanded its footprint across the Asia-Pacific region, having tallied significant business wins including Johnson & Johnson, BMW and Reckitt Benckiser.
Pomaleh takes over from Prashant Kumar who is leaving the network to pursue new opportunities.
Tajer paid tribute to Kumar, saying “I would like to take this opportunity to say farewell to Prashant, and to thank him for the contribution he has made to IPG Mediabrands. We wish him all the very best in his future endeavors”.
