McDonald's Malaysia commits to a million dollar SEA Games sponsorship deal

McDonald’s Malaysia will be the silver sponsor for the 29th SEA Games and 9th Asean Para Games with a sponsorship of over RM1 million.

According to Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, the sponsorship will include cash along with services and goods at several branches in Johor, Putrajaya, and Penang which would serve as exchange points for the Touch Relay event.

“The sponsorship today is nothing new for McDonald’s especially with its involvement as a sponsor of the Olympics. I understand that it is the company’s first appearance in the history of the South-east Asian Games. I am happy with the development,” he was quoted in The Sun Daily.

“Masoc (Kuala Lumpur Secretariat 2017) is pleased to accept the participation of McDonald’s which is a global and extensive brand,” he added after witnessing the signing of the sponsorship deal between McDonald’s Malaysia and SEA Games and Para Asean Games organising committee.

“McDonald’s sponsorship is important and big because we can get visibility through decorations and promotions throughout its branches nationwide,” he shared.

He said the brand influence is also huge and it has become a part of the lifestyle by taking into account that McDonald’s received more than 13.5 million customers monthly in all its branches in Malaysia.

According to Khairy cash sponsorship for the event has reached 71% of its target and that they are inviting more partners to support the games.
