Key media personalities will take centre stage at first-ever conference held in conjunction with the Malaysian Media Awards 2019.
With luminaries such as Clare Rewcastle Brown of The Sarawak Report, Lalit Gupta, Chief Marketing Officer, iCliff Leadership and Governance, and Cheryl Goh, Group Vice President of Marketing, Grab, attendees to the inaugural Malaysian Media Awards and Conference can expect plenty at this full-day event to be held on 23rd August 2019 at Nexus@ Connexion, Bangsar South.
Whilst the Malaysian Media Awards will see its 15th instalment, this will be the first time that a conference element is added to the awards night – themed “Game Changers”, it celebrates the positive impact made to the media industry in Malaysia by individuals or organisations.
Other media dignitaries contributing their take during the conference will be: Dato’ Ho Kay Tat, Group Chief Executive Officer and Publisher, The Edge Communications; Datuk Kamal Khalid, Group Managing Director, Media Prima Group; Henry Tan, Chief Executive Officer, Astro; Tai Kam Leong, Head of Brands and Partnerships, Maxis; Hari Vijayarajan, Chief Commercial Officer, ONE Championship; and Marc Woo, the Country Head for Google Malaysia.
“The Conference recognizes the rapid growth in the industry that affects all elements and components of media creators, platforms, planners and consumers.
“With the theme of “Game Changers”, it is timely that we embrace the importance to redefine and reshape the evolving media landscape,” said Andrew Leong, the Organizing Chairman of the Malaysian Media Awards and Conference.
Organised by The Media Specialists Association (MSA), the conference will also address current issues affecting the industry such as the convergence of analogue and digital media, the rise of data-led strategies, and insights into the evolution of the Malaysia media industry in the 21st century.
Leong explains that media is the single-most influential factor in the world today; affecting the socioeconomic and political landscape through the rise of digital media and the digitisation of analogue media, making this gathering and meeting of minds ever more important.
The Malaysian Media Awards and Conference has managed to attract the participation of corporate leaders of multi-national and national companies, along with senior executives and leaders of media platforms, media agencies, and top media or marketing heads from renowned brands across Malaysia.
The event will climax with the Malaysian Media Awards show – an acknowledgement of the best entries from Malaysian advertisers, media planning agencies and their media platform partners.
“This year’s judging will be of a particularly high standard as 45 of the industry’s top CMOs, Media Heads and Media Agency Leads has been brought in as adjudicators.
“It will truly be a night to remember for our winners”, said Kristine Ong, Deputy Organizing Chair of the Malaysian Media Awards and Conference 2019.
This year’s awards will focus on game-changing and innovative strategies in the following categories: Video, Print, Audio, Cinema & Activation, Outdoor, Mobile, E- Commerce, Social Media & Influencers, Branded Content along with standout cases in the Best Use of Data, Digital Performance, leading to the overall Best Digital Campaign of the Year, and the Best Integrated Media Campaign of the Year.
