Sunsuria Berhad rides with TheStar

The month of Merdeka is upon us and to flag off the celebrations leading up to August 31, Ride for Malaysia took off this morning at the Sunsuria City Celebration Centre.

Masterminded by Star Media Group (SMG) and property developer Sunsuria Berhad, the ride falls under SMG’s #RaiseTheFlag campaign which was launched in late July as a patriotic prelude to Merdeka.

Attending the flag off were Dato Fu Ah Kiow, Chairman of SMG Berhad; and Datuk Ter Leong Yap, Executive Chairman of Sunsuria Berhad, who were joined by Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SMG Berhad; and Mr. Koong Wai Seng, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sunsuria Berhad.

Speaking at the inaugural ride this morning, Group Managing Director and CEO of SMG Berhad Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai said the ride was a chance for Malaysians to come together and celebrate diversity, national pride and love for the country.

“Apart from promoting, national unity and patriotism, this is a chance for families and the community from all walks of life to raise awareness for a healthier and more environmentally-friendly lifestyle. Everyone – without exception – is responsible for the wellbeing of the nation and we each have a role to play,” said Datuk Ter Leong Yap, Executive Chairman of Sunsuria Berhad.

To spur the spirit of the 1500-strong crowd who participated in the event, SMG and Sunsuria had enlisted a number of public figures and entertainers. Among them were Amber Chia, Kavita Kaur and various DJs from radio stations Suria and 988.

MARKETING Magazine is not responsible for the content of external sites.

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.

We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTTDOOHinfluencer marketing, retail, etc.

Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.

Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.

Collaboration is keypartnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.

Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
