Malaysian viewers will soon be spoiled for choice with more popular Chinese content made available on-demand following the inking of an MoU between Star Media Group Berhad (SMG) and Shanghai Media Group.
Through dimsum — SMG’s branded video-on-demand service — subscribers in Malaysia and Brunei will now be able to access a host of exclusive and premium A-list content in Chinese which adds on to their existing list of offerings.
The memorandum also commemorated both the groups’ 2-year cooperation term.
Commenting on the signing, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Star Media Group Berhad Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai said, “We are excited with the addition of more premium and popular Chinese content for dimsum subscribers. This partnership is an affirmation of dimsum’s commitment to bring the best Asian content and streaming experience.”
“This partnership represents our commitment through our media groups via content exchange to enhance our relationship. This is also aligned with our plans on bringing China to South East Asia via our “One Belt, One Road,” added Ms. He Xiaolan, Vice President of Shanghai Oriental Pearl Group Co. Ltd/ General Manager of Shanghai Wings Media, Shanghai Media Group.
The start of a new synergy between Shanghai Wings Media Co. Ltd. and dimsum, operated by SMG Entertainment Sdn Bhd is also underway. Through partnership between the two players, Shanghai Wings Media Co. Ltd. will provide simulcast titles including the latest variety shows, documentaries, lifestyle programmes, film and drama series which viewers will be able to access via dimsum.
