The latest issue’s of the Malaysian Men’s Health and Women’s Health editions
In a shocking announcement received just a few minutes ago Mongoose Publishing shared that it would be closing down both its Men’s Health and Women’s Health titles in Malaysia.
“Mongoose Publishing Sdn Bhd announced today that it has closed the Men’s Health and Women’s Health magazine brands in Malaysia. Mongoose would like to thank the dedicated and passionate team on both titles and the advertisers and sponsors who have supported the brands,” the short media announcement read.
Further questions from MARKETING on if the brands would continue online or if there were any job cuts involved were answered with a brief ‘no comment’ from the company’s representative.
Mongoose other publication brands include Time Out Kuala Lumpur, Time Out Malaysia Kids, Time Out Singapore, Time Out Malaysia guides, Esquire Malaysia, Esquire Singapore, Expatriate Lifestyle and ELLE Malaysia.
Earlier in June, we reported the findings from the recent Magazine Publishing Association (MPA) meeting which highlighted the decline of the magazines’ Advertising Expenditure (adex) by -36.3% for Q1 2017.
The decline of magazine adex was attributed to the migration to digital format and also the closure of some magazine titles.
The increasing closure of print publications are not only limited to Malaysia, last month regional trade publication ‘Campaign Asia’ announced that it would be shutting down its print issue after four decades.
