The d Awards 2019, Malaysia’s sole digital media and advertising awards that recognises both publishers and agencies, returns after a timely revival last year.
In 2018, the d Awards – organised by the Malaysian Digital Association (MDA) – attracted 136 entries and 34 agencies and publishers, as over 400 stakeholders and supporters of the industry joined hands in celebrating its winners.
The event was warmly welcomed by the industry at large, as it acclaims innovation in designing and execution of marketing digital campaigns that redefines the way consumers perceive and consume brands.
This year, the d Awards will be expanded by three new categories that underline the industry’s progressive trajectory in 2018.
The new Best Tech Developer, Best Digital Publisher and Best Digital Innovation for Pro-bono Work categories will augment the d Awards 2019 as they are in line with its aim of appreciating talent and brands that embrace and use technologies.
“The new categories are also unique in that it allows for all digital players – be they agencies, marketers, publishers, technologists or developers – to participate on level playing field and come together as equals to win,” said d Awards 2019 Organising Chairman, Ms. Eileen Ooi.
The Best Tech Developer awards the best and most innovative use of technology in the development landscape and the Best Digital Innovation for Pro-bono Work supports pro-bono campaigns by recognising the innovative or ancillary usage of available digital technology to deliver significant impact to brand, product or services.
Best Digital Publisher, meanwhile, honours “game-changing” publisher for its stand-out execution of strategy to impact growth not only for its own business but also clients, partners and the Malaysia digital industry as a whole.
“Marketing today is very much digital-centric today as our world collapses to debunk the myth of offline vs. online. D Awards stand to recognise the best of talents, publishers, technology players and the tremendously great work that Malaysia is producing in the space of digital marketing,” Ooi, who is also the Managing Director of PHD Malaysia, added.
As a testament to MDA’s vision of fueling the digital industry in Malaysia and produce the next generations of digital champions, d Awards has now opened up entry for Digital Person of the Year to cover all ages.
The entry fee for this category is also waived.
The d Awards 2019 – which will again bring industry leaders together to honour the best innovative works in designing and execution of digital marketing campaigns and the talent behind them – also marks a significant milestone.
“We will celebrate MDA’s 10th anniversary in 2019, with the third d Awards as one of the key programmes of our celebration.
The d Awards is not only meant to honour the great digital works by our talents, it’s also for us, as a whole industry, to celebrate the achievements we made so far,” said MDA President, Mr. Serm Teck Choon.
“Some believe that the changes brought by the Internet to the world are just 1% so far.
“This means that there are endless possibilities and boundless opportunities before us, and we as an industry should strive for better innovation that could reshape and transform our businesses,” Serm, Malaysia Country Head & Head of Product at CtrlShift, said.
Campaigns that were executed in Malaysia between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018 are entitled for submission.
