Arved von zur Muehlen appointed as Malaysia Airlines Group CMO


Malaysia Airlines (MAB) has appointed chief commercial officer Arved von zur Muehlen (picture) as group CMO.

Arved who was named chief commercial officer in 2016, was tasked with developing a comprehensive and sustainable plan to improve the airline’s marketing, sales, products and customer service.

He also played a crucial role in restoring the airline’s position as a leading international carrier and developing its innovative customer-centric services.

Before joining MAB, Arved was the senior VP of commercial network operations for Qatar Airways.

During his time there, he was responsible for global sales strategy and development, as well as innovation and technology.

He also managed the roll-out of several successful projects, including the implementation of a new internet sales platform and booking engine.

He also worked at Swiss International Airlines and Lufthansa Airlines.

“He will focus on developing a comprehensive and sustainable plan to improve MAB’s marketing, sales, products and customer service,” said MAB’s chief executive officer, Peter Bellew.

“He brings with him over 20 years of professional experience in the aviation industry and will add a valuable breadth of understanding across sales, marketing and technological innovation,” added Peter.

Peter also added that Arved von zur Muehlen will play a crucial role in the next phase of the turnaround, focusing on restoring MAB’s position as a leading international carrier and developing the airline’s innovative customer-centric services.
