It was reported in several global news outlets yesterday that General Mills is going into the New Year with a massive restructure for its global operations.

The company, which carries several popular brands including Yoplait and Häagen-Dazs announced a new global structure which would see the company being split into four business groups—North America retail, Europe & Australia, Asia & Latin America, and convenience stores & foodservice.

Four new group presidents, who will report to the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer Jeff Harmening, will be heading the different divisions. Overseeing Asia and Latin America is Christina Law who has been with the company since 2012.

The company also announced that it would be eliminating the position of international chief operating office and will soon announce a new global CMO/marketing innovation leader who will report to Jeff.

In light of the changes, Ann Simonds, SVP Chief Marketing Officer who has been with the company since 1995 announced that she will be leaving the company.

MARKETING wrote to General Mills to find out how its local operations will be affected by the restructuring and received the following response:

“The organisational changes announced yesterday is expected to impact 400-600 positions across the globe, subject to consultation with employees and employee representatives as required. We are not detailing impact by location.”
