BFM gets creative with GE14 inspired t-shirts, ‘Bata For Mahathir’ and ‘Birkins for Madame’
Malaysia’s GE14 really brought out not only patriotism and unity but also a dash of creativity among everyone.
From nails painted with the political party of one’s choice all the way to t-shirts! BFM radio also came up with two unique tees that captured the eyes and hearts of many Malaysians.
MARKETING magazine spoke to Caroline Oh, BFM’s program director on how the tees came to life.
How did the idea come about?
Basically, BFM has a culture where if anyone in the company has an idea, they can raise it up.
We were talking about the numerous number of designer bags coming out from the Pavillion residences.
BFM’s office administrator, Crystal Ch’ng came up with the idea – wouldn’t it nice to have a tee saying ‘Birkins For Madame’?
We then spun around more ideas and came up with ‘Bata for Mahathir’ after news spread like wildfire that the Prime Minister of Malaysia was spotted wearing a pair of brown Bata sandals.
How has the response been towards the tees?
The response has been extremely positive. We’ve had a flood of people calling in requesting to purchase the shirt, whether it’s the senior generation or the young Malaysian adults.
