Advertising veteran, Omar Shaari has been appointed CEO of Location
Media Xchange (LMX), as of February 2020, a newly formed company under the Moving Walls Group.
LMX is the world’s first independent tech-based media exchange. Omar’s role is to accelerate the adoption of technology and data-driven outdoor media solutions in the Malaysian market. Prior to this appointment, Omar was the CEO of Posterscope for 2 years.
He was also Founder and CEO of Dentsu One (formerly known as Dentsu Utama) where he served for 12 years. Having been immersed in the outdoor advertising industry in his previous role, Omar finds moving into the tech space as a natural progression. The OOH industry, like most other industries, has been impacted by IR4.0 and the Internet of Everything (IoE).
“The industry is now at a crossroad. Either we embrace change or we will be changed,” states Omar. “Digital transformation is expected to drive demand for Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) media. However, the supply inventory remains largely offline and fragmented. LMX unites and empowers local DOOH media publishers to automate and integrate their assets into the digital ecosystem. This integration will enable the media publishers to tap into programmatic DOOH (pDOOH) advertising, unlocking a new revenue stream for them.
From the demand side, marketers will now benefit from more cost-effective, measurable pDOOH media campaigns. As for media agencies, we have tools to help them automate their planning and buying process” adds Omar.
According to Srikanth Ramachandran, Founder and Group CEO of Moving Walls, “LMX is a new initiative by the group to focus purely on the media technology side of the business. I am happy to share that Omar brings a culture of collaboration, entrepreneurship and business integrity that we believe are key to driving not only our success but the transformation of the industry.”
