Twitter rolls out Spaces, a Clubhouse-like feature for Android users

In its latest app update, Twitter announced it is launching an its own audio chat room, Spaces, for android users. The Clubhouse-like feature is still in its beta phase, introduced to small groups of users to gather feedback from a variety of communities.

While the app is being rolled out mainly for Android users, in January Twitter introduced a limited version of the Spaces to iOS users. According to the Verge, while any users of Twitter’s iOS app can join and listen to Spaces, only a few can host them at the moment. Twitter said it was giving Spaces to “a very small feedback group” to start, with women and people from other marginalized groups given priority. Now, users of Twitter’s Android app can join and listen to Spaces as well.

On March 10, Spaces hosted a ‘Twitter Spaces community gathering + Q&A’ and a day later, it posted a sneak peek video of the feature’s capabilities.

Other Spaces features that have been shared in public while in beta testing, include features such as  titles and descriptionsscheduling options, support for co-hosts and moderatorsguest lists. Twitter has also updated the preview card that appears in the timeline and relabeled its “captions” feature to be more accurate, from an accessibility standpoint, according to Techcrunch.
