Malaysian health and wellness platform goes content-centric

Malaysia-based health and wellness platform PurelyB is diving into the content-only game with a subscription model in tow.

PurelyB, who is co-owned by former Astro assistant vice-president of digital marketing Jesrina Arsha apart, used to also be a marketplace for people to buy health goods and services.

The two-year-old startup plans on doing it with an equity crowdfunding (ECF) campaign on ATA Plus Malaysia, targeting the raising of RM2.7 million.

The campaign, which started on July 31 will run until Sept 3, and acts as PurelyB’s pre-series A round. The startup previously closed a US$500,000 (RM2.1 million) seed round led by 500 Startups in Dec 2015.

Founders Jesrina Arshad, chief executive officer, and Stephanie Looi, chief operations officer, said the core objective for PurelyB’s ECF campaign is to give back to the community that has been supporting them from the start.

PurelyB opened the ECF campaign with a private round for its members before opening to the public. The campaign raised RM1.3 million.

An article profiling the company in The Star Online earlier in April reported that there were over 90,000 members in the PurelyB community.
