Celcom’s numero uno, Dato’ Sri Shazalli Ramly has been appointed Telekom Malaysia Bhd’s (TM) Group CEO and Managing Director.
Since September last year, Shazalli has been Axiata Group Bhd’s Executive Vice President and Regional CEO.
He transformed the company in 2005 into a formidable player recording more than 30 consecutive quarters of growth.
Shazalli is a known brand warrior and brilliant leader among industry peers.
At TM, he is expected to help their wireless player Webe Digital with a big push.
His appointment will take effect May 1, 2017, after TM’s current group CEO Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa retires on April 30, 2017.
Zamzamzairani, or Zam, has been with the telco industry for over 30 years including 13 years in TM.
TM Group CFO Bazlan Osman has been appointed as the company’s Deputy Group CEO and Executive Director, effective May 1, 2017.
“These appointments mark a new era of leadership for TM as Malaysia’s Convergence Champion. Shaz brings the energy, drive and industry know-how to build on the strong foundation established by Zam,” said TM chairman Sulaiman Mahbob.
“TM remains steadfast in building its ecosystem towards realising our convergence and ‘go digital’ aspirations as we move beyond connectivity into quad play, and new value added digital and smart devices,” he added.
