An Ang Pow that grows into a plant?

(marketingmagazine.com.my) –Maxis has recreated the the iconic money packet given out during the Chinese New Year festival.

The telco has launched Maxis’ Plant-a- Blessing Ang Pows, special red packets made from plantable seed paper. Each plantable ang pow is designed with a space for the ang pow giver to write a personal wish or blessing that the receiver can nurture and grow in the year ahead.

Planting the ang pow in soil and watering it with care activates the embedded seeds, which in turn sprouts into a flowering plant.

Specially for Chinese New Year, customers who purchase any new phones via the Maxis Online Store will receive a free set of Maxis plantable ang pows.

To accompany the Plant-A- Blessing Ang Pow promotion, Maxis released a touching film “The Money Grandma Owes Me”, in which a young boy learns that the most special gifts are actually those gifts that money cannot buy. The touching ad has already been viewed over 5,000 times on YouTube.

“Sometimes we focus too much on the money inside an Ang Pow, and less so on the spirit of giving, of wishing happiness to those we love. This year, we thought these Plant-A- Blessing AngPows could help remind people that wealthy are we who receive gifts that money cannot buy,” Sulin Lau, Head of Marketing Services shared.
