(marketingmagazine.com.my) – How does a ‘small-village girl from Pasir Mas’ grow up to drive digital transformation in Malaysia?
In her article titled, ‘Driving the digital economy transformation’, Dato’ Yasmin shares her journey going from global companies such as Microsoft and Dell to become the CEO of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation.
Highlighting the key focuses of MDEC, Dato’ Yasmin shared more on the historical progression of Malaysia’s digital journey spinning off from the inception of Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) in 1996. Anchored in Cyberjaya, she shared her pride in seeing how Cyberjaya had changed from a land filled with oil palm trees to housing regional offices for IBM, Experian and DHL.
She then hones into MDEC’s key achievements among which were:
• Attracting foreign direct investments
• To ensure that direct investments where followed through successfully. Quoting Scope for Standard Chartered Bank’s wholly owned subsidiary for example has over 4,000 local employees working under them with plans of furthering its investment to set a 24/7 “Collective Intelligence and Command Centre” here, for the banking group’s global operations
• Responsible for securing RM285bil worth of investments for the country
Those are just what’s on the tip of the iceberg of what MDEC has achieved, for a bigger picture on what’s up Dato’ Yasmin’s sleeve in taking Malaysia’s digital growth to greater heights read her full article here: http://www.thestar.com.my/business/business-news/2016/02/06/driving-the-digital-economy-transformation/
