(Marketingmagazine.com.my) – J. Walter Thompson Kuala Lumpur is deepening its bench of experienced leaders, hiring Raymond Khor as General Manager, Christopher Koh as Digital Business Director and Deric Cheong as Finance Director.

“They bring with them invaluable experience, multiple disciplinary skills and stellar leadership that will really help us steer JWT as a pioneering solutions-driven company in an ever evolving marketing landscape,” said Managing Director Nicole Tan.

Raymond Khor takes on the newly-created role of General Manager.

He comes with more than 15 years’ advertising and marketing experience, with stints at Ogilvy & Mather, Grey and Mindshare.

He spent most of this career at GSK – where he managed brands such as Panadol, Scott’s Emulsion and Eno and is best known for his work on Ribena, which won the prestigious Gold Effie for Ribena Raya “Ada Kelas” in 2010.

In 2014, he became part of the pioneering team setting up Suntory Malaysia, and was also Head of Marketing for Ribena and Lucozade, which GSK had sold to Suntory.

Khor, 39, will lead key client accounts such as Shell and oversee training and development of account management teams.

He has an MBA from the University of Strathclyde in the UK and now teaches strategy to MBA students at his alma mater’s Malaysian arm.

Digital Business Director Christopher Koh is a seasoned digital entrepreneur.

In 2002, he co-founded IF/Interactive, a full-service digital agency later acquired by Dentsu Aegis Network and rebranded Isobar Malaysia.

He also started Factori Communications, a boutique digital production agency, and Sketch & Scribble, an online retailer of D-I-Y craft kits to fuel kids’ imaginations.

Koh, 37, was also recently Head of Digital at Mindshare. He takes over from Nixon Lee, who is leaving to take a sabbatical and spend time with family.

Finally, Deric Cheong, 42, is the new Finance Director. He brings 18 years of finance experience in local and multinational businesses ranging from Ernst & Young to Xango and MindValley.

He is an associate member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and has an accounting degree from Systematic College in Kuala Lumpur.

He replaces Michael Wong, who is retiring but will continue to work for the company as its operations consultant.
