Ramlan Ibrahim, the former diplomat and Election Commission member has been appointed as the chairman of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, more commonly known as Tourism Malaysia.
Ramlan who was an EC member since February 2019, joined the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1983 and served in various capacities at the Malaysian embassies in Jakarta, the Netherlands and Zagreb, Croatia.
Other past experiences include a stint as deputy high commissioner to Singapore in 2001, ambassador to Bosnia Herzegovina in 2004, and ambassador to the Republic of Korea in 2009. In 2015, he was appointed Malaysia’s permanent representative to the United Nations in New York and then was appointed secretary-general of the foreign affairs ministry in 2019.
