Utusan Malaysia hopes to cut costs with new tabloid size

Utusan goes tabloid-sized

Utusan Malaysia will go tabloid size from tomorrow as the newspaper continues its struggle to stay afloat and cut costs as well as stem its burgeoning debt.

Malaysia’s oldest Bahasa Malaysia newspaper will move away from its traditional broadsheet format with its Sunday edition, Mingguan Malaysia, said several sources.

The newspaper which is controlled by former ruling party UMNO has run into many difficulties of late and is known for its highly biased reporting in the past.

According to Utusan, the change in size is also part of their effort to fulfil the needs and taste of their readers.
