Kuala Lumpur, 20 April 2016 – The APPIES Organisers and Advisory Council have today announced the 36 shortlisted campaigns which will contend for honours at APPIES Malaysia 2016, covering major industry categories like FMCG, non-FMCG and Consumer Services to Probono/Cultural/Government, Consumer Durables and Food & Beverages.
On May 19 & 20 at the Eastin Hotel, all shortlisted campaigns will be presented in an interactive format comprising of a 4-minute intro reel, then a 6-minute oral presentation, and finally questions from the judges and audience.
Commenting on the shortlisted entries, Chief Judge of APPIES Malaysia and Group CMO of CIMB Banking Group, Mohamed Adam Wee Abdullah (picture) commented, “Clarity in the Objective statement is fundamental. If this is not clear, the solutions will not be clear as well. It is also important to juxtapose the expected outcome against the objective statement so that you can gauge if the strategies are aligned. It’s a bit like looking through the scope of a sniper’s rifle.”
“What sets The APPIES apart is that each featured campaign is presented Live by the brand marketers and campaign creators themselves before a panel of judges and an industry audience. Only outstanding campaigns that have a unique marketing success story will go on to win the APPIES Gold or Silver trophy,” said Harmandar Singh, President of APPIES Malaysia and Regional Publisher of MARKETING magazine.
Confirmed Keynote Speakers for the APPIES Conference on May 19 & 20 are Dato’ Sri Shazalli Ramly, CEO of Celcom AXIATA Bhd; Henry Tan, COO of Astro and Aseem Puri, Regional Brand Director for Unilever Asia. They will be joined by Panel Speakers who include Subhendu Mukherjee, Director of The Tenth Floor Singapore; TH Chong, Group Director of ASTRO Media Sales; Srikanth Ramachandran, Executive Director of Moving Walls and Brett Watson, SEO & SEM Specialist at Marketing Inc.
“The APPIES Marketing Conference is like a 2-Day Marketing MBA or the TED of Marketing, where 36 marketing case studies are presented on stage in 30-minute slots each and scrutinised by the best minds in the business,” adds Santharuban Sundaram, Group Marketing Manager of Permanis Sandilands.
