YuppTV, popular OTT leader in the Indian content made its presence felt in Malaysia in February 2018. Fast forward to now, within 10 months YuppTV has garnered strong support from Malaysian Indians and expats from India.
YuppTV boasts 100 thousand subscribers and the number is growing. YuppTV brand is recognised as a affordable product at only RM16 a month offering more than 200 Live TV channels and 2000+ movies in 13 languages from India.
The last 10 months YuppTV launched YuppTV originals branded as YuppTV Studio in Tamil, Telegu and Malayalam. The response has been great. These titles are exclusively to YuppTV only.
Meanwhile in May 2018, the anticipated Indian Premier League 2018 received overwhelming response from Malaysian cricket fans.. Five thousand cricket fans subscribed to the weekly tournament and the full tournament. A new precedent was set in Malaysia where in the past cricket subscribers during IPL was around between 1 thousand to two thousand subscribers but YuppTV broke that record.
YuppTV also teamed up with Balaji Telefilm Ltd (ALT Balaji) fulfilling subscribers needs in Malaysia. In 2018 ALT Balaji rolled 20 original shows in various Indian languages across genres such as romance, mystery, drama, & comedy, and is available in over 90 countries.
In addition to this, ALTBalaji also offers entertaining original shows for children, and has launched short regional stand-up comedy videos in Tamil, Telegu, Hindi, Punjabi and Gujarati.

Nachiappan stressed that local content is very crucial to ensure YuppTV remains relevant amongst the target audience. In 2019, local content will be YuppTV (Malaysia) priority.
YuppTV is in talk with few parties for the last few months to make this a reality in mid-second quarter 2019. Amongst the content that they are considering are short movies, concerts and news in Tamil before venturing into other popular Indian dialects in Malaysia.
