Richard WH Liew steps up as IBM Malaysia’s newly appointed Marketing Director. He replaces Eric Wong who has moved up to a regional role as IBM ASEAN’s marketing segment leader.
He will be reporting to Chong Chye Neo, Managing Director of IBM Malaysia.
Richard is tasked to drive the overall marketing & communication functions for company. He and his team will be responsible for strategising and executing campaigns to strengthen the IBM’s presence in the local market.
Having honed his experience earlier on in his career in the areas of product marketing and business development in multinational companies such as Hewlett-Packard (HP) Richard then joined IBM 16 years ago.
“I joined IBM in 2001 and have taken on a combination of regional and country roles, cutting across multiple functions like marketing, channels, business development and sales,” he told MARKETING in an interview.
“IBM is aggressively transforming as a company, to take a leadership position in the rapidly changing IT landscape. Marketing’s role is to ensure that we are able to communicate our differentiated value propositions to the market crisply & effectively, and to deliver the experiential elements that customers and partners are demanding in this new era.”
All this Richard added is being supported with new marketing skills, automation and tools that the team needs to continuously and rapidly acquire.
Sharing more on the exciting new plans in the works for IBM he added,
“We are laying the groundwork to develop an innovation centre in IBM Malaysia where customers can experience the cloud & cognitive solutions that IBM offers; as well as to assist them in designing applications and solutions to solve their business needs on-the-spot; something unique that will be available for the first time in Malaysia.
