Malaysia’s pioneer OTT content player — tonton — under Media Prima Television Networks (MPTN), has partnered with Datastream Technologies (DST) in Brunei to bring Bruneians its popular OTT streaming service.
This marks tonton’s second venture outside of Malaysia. The signing ceremony was conducted on DST’s EASI 18th anniversary.
Director of tonton & Licensing and Merchandising, Media Prima Television Networks, Airin Zainul said, “tonton has made great strides since its launch last year and is now expanding its empire by bringing quality Malaysian and international content to Bruneians through this exclusive partnership with DST”.
“Our aim is to expand tonton internationally. In May this year, we signed a similar collaboration with Singtel to reach into the Singaporean market. Today, by signing this agreement, tonton is officially available in Brunei. By end of this year, we hope to be available in one more regional country. We hope to expand the brand and its content outside of Malaysia, delivering our local content to the world” she said.
Commencing today, tonton will be made exclusively available to all DST’s customers at special rates.
tonton, MPTN’s OTT platform, offers linear channels and over 30,000 hours of catch-up and premium video content, which includes dramas, talk shows, and movies made in Malaysia. In the past year the platform has seen some exciting new developments including embarking on live events, new broadcasting agreements for sporting events and partnerships with leading brands including Samsung, Panasonic and more.
