Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is back with a much-awaited Deepavali film, offering audiences a heartwarming celebration of tradition, love and light.
“Arulini, Shining Star” features the true story of Arulini, who recently found success at international singing competitions. Coupled with an inspirational backstory and bubbly personality, it’s no surprise that Arulini has quickly captured the hearts of many.
The Thirukkural, a classic Tamil text written by the poet Thiruvalluvar, consisting of 1,330 couplets, serves as a foundation both in the film and in Arulini’s real life. It provides timeless wisdom on ethics, morality and practical life. A teacher by profession, Dr Khasturi has instilled these teachings in her daughter from a young age. Whenever Arulini faces hardship in the film, her mother shares a couplet from the text to help her see the brighter side of life.
According to Jarrod Regiland, Executive Creative Director of Chariot Agency, “Our family is always the light that guides us through dark times.”
“When we’re surrounded by the people we love, it makes the act of celebrating even more meaningful. It’s a reminder of where we came from, and how much they’ve shaped who we are. For a brand like TNB, we wanted to share that the love and light of family is the source of life’s greatest happiness and joy.”
TNB believes in the power of hope, perseverance, and family, brought to life in this year’s Deepavali film. Inspired by the true story of Arulini Arumugam, a young Malaysian singer who gained international recognition, the film highlights the pivotal role of her mother, Dr. Khasturi Ramalingam, in guiding her journey. Through this narrative, TNB reaffirms its commitment to fostering brighter, sustainable futures by empowering individuals to pursue their dreams.
In collaboration with its newly appointed creative agency, Chariot (an affiliate of Naga DDB Sdn. Bhd.), TNB brings this story to life in a film featuring Arulini and Dr. Khasturi in their real-life roles.
The film is now available on TNB’s YouTube channel, TENAGAofficial, and across its social media platforms.
