British Airways pays homage to Queen singer with flash mob

British Airways pays tribute to Queen with a flash mob at the airport

Last week, Freddie Mercury would have turned 72. Though he is known and loved all over the world as Queen’s frontman, very few people know he was formerly a British Airways baggage handler at London’s Heathrow Airport.

Though he passed away in 1991, he is far from forgotten and to celebrate the legend’s birthday British Airways paid tribute to him at Heathrow Airport with a flash mob performance of his hit song “I Want to Break Free”.

Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara in Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania, and he grew up in India before moving to Middlesex, England. There, he got a job as a baggage handler for British Airways at Heathrow Airport to earn money until his music career took off.

British Airways has never forgotten about their former employee!

The video even has the hoover sequence with the use of suitcases. Check out the video below!

Baggage Manager Adam Dewey, who took part in the performance, said that he is a huge Queen fan.

“Freddie Mercury is an undisputed rock legend and it has been an absolute blast planning his birthday celebrations at Heathrow Airport, where he once worked,” Adam said.
