Slowly Explore, Fully Inspired: Cathay's Story of Unexpected Inspiration And Discovery

by: @dminMM

Cathay today launched ‘Slowly Explore, Fully Inspired’, a short video produced by acclaimed Thai filmmaker Chayanop Boonprakob (Moo), highlighting the surprising parallels between art and travel. This latest milestone is part of Cathay’s three-year partnership with the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) to inspire travellers and promote Hong Kong as a world-class arts and cultural destination.

A household name in Asian film, Director Moo puts his signature genre-fusion touch and vibrant storytelling to the short, which stars popular Thai content creator Pimtha Thanida Manalertruengkul, who boasts a loyal following of over four million fans in Thailand, and Australian model-actor Alexander Yue, who is based in Singapore.

With a vibrant blend of humour and heart, the short film captures how discovery is not limited to a seasoned traveller orart aficionado, but a joy that anyone can experience when they allow themselves to slow down and explore with fresh eyes. In the short film, the female protagonist ‘Rachel’—played by Pimtha—is visiting Hong Kong but finds herself in a whirl, thanks to her hurried and itinerary-driven boyfriend—played by Alexander—who is intent on checking off every stop on the trip.

The final straw comes when Rachel’s boyfriend rushes through M+, Asia’s global museum of contemporary visual culture located in the West Kowloon Cultural District (WestK), before an unexpected incident causes the couple to slow down and discover the beauty in relishing, cherishing, and experiencing every moment.

This film marks the latest milestone in Cathay’s three-year partnership with WKCDA. As WKCDA’s exclusive Travel Partner since 2023, Cathay has fostered international artist exchanges, supported world-class exhibitions, and championed Hong Kong as a cultural bridge between East and West.

‘Slowly Explore, Fully Inspired’ builds on this shared commitment to inspire discovery through art and travel – celebrating how both can spark new perspectives, unexpected inspiration, and meaningful connections. Through this collaboration, Cathay continues to encourage travellers to move beyond sightseeing and experience travel as a personal journey.
