TNB’s CNY film by Chariot Agency is a reminder on the importance of family traditions

Chariot Agency (an affiliate of Naga DDB Sdn. Bhd.) proudly partners with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) this Chinese New Year to present a heartwarming  festive campaign that honors the family members who preserve cherished traditions during the celebrations.

The film, titled “The Family Anchor”, highlights the often-unseen efforts of family members who work tirelessly to ensure the spirit of togetherness shines bright during Chinese New Year. The film centers around Mei, the oldest daughter of the family, who makes it her mission to keep a promise she made to her late parents.

“At TNB, we believe that family is the source of light and warmth in every home,” shared TNB’s Head of Group Corporate Communications, Samsul Ariffin bin Zainuddin. “This film is a heartfelt reminder to cherish the people who keep our traditions alive and play a part in doing the same. Because at the heart of traditions that bring us together lies love that spans generations.”

Set in the present day, the film cleverly balances humor with heartfelt moments, reminding audiences to honour those who make these celebrations meaningful year after year. Mei’s relentless efforts serve as a touching and lighthearted tribute to those who ensure family bonds remain strong across generations.

According to Christyna Fong, Creative Director of Chariot Agency, “Family traditions are more than just rituals; they are the bonds that keep generations connected. This year, we wanted to spotlight the unsung heroes who make it all happen—the family anchors. They remind us that the true joy of Chinese New Year lies not just in the festivity, but in the care and love shared among family.”

Chariot Agency once again teamed up with Directors Think Tank for the production of this film, this time with Hyrul at the director’s chair. His ability to blend humor into a story filled with a lot of heart made him the perfect choice for this year’s Chinese New Year campaign, reinforcing TNB’s tradition of festive ads that make Malaysians laugh, adds Christyna.

The film premieres on TNB’s YouTube TENAGAofficial, LinkedIn Tenaga Nasional Berhad, and @tenaga_nasional on Instagram and TikTok on 22 January, inviting Malaysians to cherish one of the most important traditions of the season.
