The NexGen Show Episode 31: From Physiotherapy To Advertising

What does physiotherapy have in common with advertising? At first glance, not much. But for the latest guest on The NexGen Show, both careers share one crucial thing: care.

Crystal Lam began her professional journey aiming to be an animal physiotherapist, but realised the profession wasn’t her true calling.

“I always loved to write as a kid, so when I had the chance to do copywriting, I fell in love with it,” she shares.

In the episode, Crystal shares how her switch from healthcare to advertising was more than a career change — it was a chance to nurture creativity.

“The process of being creative is all about trying, which I think is a beautiful and weird thing,” she says. “It’s just learning and trying every second, every day.”

While awards and recognition are part of the industry’s DNA, Crystal manages to find meaning in her day-to-day work.

“On paper, who wouldn’t want to win an award?” she laughs. “But rather than winning awards and competitions, what I would prefer is winning people’s hearts.”
