There’s something missing from Malaysian advertising — and it might not be what you think.
In Episode 15 of The NexGen Show, Prof. Harmandar Singh interviews rising brand strategist Kerryane Tan about the importance of embracing our country’s cultural diversity.
“Culture is not something that only lasts a few months. It is something that will impact your business for the next three to five years,” she shares. “But this can be tough to explain to clients when all they want is sales.”
Discovering her passion for strategy during an internship, Kerryane is now on a mission to help brands connect meaningfully with their customers through understanding culture.
“In Malaysia, we are extremely sensitive about a lot of things,” she muses. “How do we sidestep those sensitivities to create good ads? That’s the question I always throw to my creatives.”
Listen to these insights in the latest episode of The NexGen Show. New episodes every Sunday, 7PM on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube.
