The NexGen Show Episode 4 Exposes The Truth Behind Faux Billboards

Recent years have seen an evolution in out-of-home (OOH) advertising, driven by technological advancements and shifting industry demands.

One latest trend involves the use of 3D animation to create immersive visual experiences that look impressive on screen, but might not exist in real life.

In Episode 4 of The NexGen Show, guest speaker Samantha Rayer sheds light on the trend of faux billboards and the misconceptions surrounding them.

“A lot of people receive these videos from their friends and think that’s exactly what they’re going to get, then we have to tell people it’s actually not real,” she shares.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s Christmas billboard is one such example, featuring a moment when Santa and his reindeers fly out of the billboard to deliver gifts.

“This is how digital and out-of-home complements each other,” she explains. “I’m sure there will be people going to look for the screen and it won’t be there, and it costs nothing!”

Listen to these insights and more in The NexGen Show, a Sunday evening podcast hosted by Malaysian advertising veteran Prof. Harmandar Singh from MARKETING Magazine Asia.
