Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo and MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil Hailed by Malaysia’s National Tech Association
In a bold stride towards a digitally empowered Malaysia, the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) has lauded the government’s latest Business Digitalisation Initiative (BDI).
Spearheaded by the Digital Ministry and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), alongside SME Corp Malaysia, the initiative stands as a landmark effort to bolster the digital capabilities of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), thereby strengthening the nation’s economic resilience.
Recognising the immense potential of this initiative, PIKOM Chairman Alex Liew commended the collaborative effort that unites government agencies, financial institutions, digital banks, technology providers, and local enablers under a singular vision.
“It is a remarkable undertaking by the Digital Ministry, MDEC, and SME Corp,” noted Liew.
“Uniting key stakeholders from across the tech and financial services landscape requires strong leadership and coordination. Full credit to all parties for creating an ecosystem that delivers practical, results-driven support to our nation’s entrepreneurs.”
The BDI is designed to provide MSMEs with essential digital tools, including e-invoicing solutions based on the Peppol framework, as well as avenues for talent upskilling, capacity building, and access to financial support.
With digitalisation now an indispensable element for business growth and sustainability, the initiative aims to bridge the digital gap, enabling MSMEs to improve operational efficiency and explore new avenues of expansion beyond Malaysia’s borders.
Liew particularly acknowledged the leadership of Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo and MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil in shaping and delivering this impactful programme.
“Both Gobind and Anuar continue to make it clear that the BDI goes far beyond technology deployment. It aims to create an enabling ecosystem that supports MSMEs holistically,” he remarked.
Thriving Digital Future for MSMEs
Since taking the helm of PIKOM last December, Liew has infused the organisation with renewed purpose and direction.
Under his stewardship, PIKOM remains committed to fostering industry collaboration, embracing emerging technologies, and advocating policies that keep Malaysia competitive in the ever-evolving digital landscape.
“At PIKOM, our mission is clear: To embrace change, adapt swiftly, and champion the interests of our members,” said Liew.
Representing over 2,000 companies across the ICT ecosystem, PIKOM continues to play a vital role in driving progressive policies, facilitating industry dialogues, and fostering innovation that benefits businesses of all sizes.
With initiatives like BDI taking centre stage, Malaysia’s digital transformation journey is poised to create an inclusive and thriving economic landscape where MSMEs can flourish.
In an era where digital agility determines market leadership, such initiatives serve as a cornerstone for sustained economic growth and global competitiveness.
